Trosolwg o'r swydd

The purpose of the post is to assist the Trust to improve and maintain compliance with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS).

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Assist with the development and smooth running of the process for the receipt and recording of DOLS Authorisation requests for review and onward referral to the appropriate Supervisory Body.

Contribute to developing systems and processes to support the statutory requirements of the Trust in relation to the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Act (2009).

Support front line staff to ensure that the MCA/DOLS are applied correctly across the Trust in order to meet legal compliance.

Facilitate good communication and liaison with colleagues, wards, and departmental staff.

Provide specialist advice and guidance to Trust staff on the MCA/DOLS.

Deliver training to front line staff on MCA and DOLS within the Trust.

Qualifications

  • Professional Qualification, Nurse Allied Health Professional, Social worker based in health
  • To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998 or equivalent teaching experience.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable
  • First Degree or working towards

  • City and Guilds level 3 Certificate
  • Independent Mental Capacity Advocate

Experience

  • Extensive experience of applying MCA in practice settings
  • Leadership experience.
  • A sound working knowledge and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty
  • Evidence of the ability to communicate specialist advice regarding the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty to all levels of staff.
  • Experience of delivering training/presentations
  • Experience of working with user groups and representative/advocates.
  • Experience of delivering training/presentations to an audience of professionals.

  • Ability to analyse, interpret and deliver complex and/or sensitive information in relation to the Mental Capacity Act including changes in law and policy that have an impact on the Trust responsibilities.
  • Ability to represent the Trust at multi-agency forums
  • Ability to work under pressure managing complex and competing demands.
