To provide a comprehensive and efficient secretarial service to the medical staff, nursing team, Matron, patients, managers and other users of the service. To maintain absolute confidentiality at all times and to actively promote the security of patient information.
Excellent organisational and communication skills will be required along with advanced IT and problem solving skills. The post holder must be able to use their initiative and work to tight deadlines. They must also be able to work well within a team and be flexible in working practices.

The post holder will be an experienced and organised Medical Secretary who will be working for two Dermatology consultants.
The provision of a full secretarial service including typing using digital dictation software with fast and accurate speeds , organising meetings, events and consultant calendars, taking minutes, competent use of the Trust EPR system, good medical terminology and excellent knowledge of 18 week RTT targets and cancer waiting times.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with all staff within the multidisciplinary team at all levels of understanding and seniority.
Advanced organisational skills with the ability to organise and prioritise workloads are essential along with an efficient and effective approach to working practices incorporating the Trust PROUD values.
Responsibility for training and supporting a Medical Support Secretary.

Qualifications

- 5 GCSEs Grade C/4 or above including English and Maths or equivalent experience
- 2 “A” levels or NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
- Experience of Microsoft Office Packages or appropriate IT qualifications
- Medical word processing qualification

- Experience of further academic study
- Evidence of further study in customer care
Experience

- Previous Medical Secretarial experience or equivalent demonstrable experience in a senior administrative type role
- Previous experience organising meetings/events and taking minutes
- Previous daily use of digital dictation software.
- Previous experience working in an NHS environment.
- Use of medical terminology

- Coordinating and managing waiting lists
Further training

- Experience of using an electronic patient record or similar hospital system.
- Knowledge of National 18 Week RTT Targets.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (Particularly Word and Excel)
- To actively undertake appraisals and job specific mandatory training as required
