Trosolwg o'r swydd

Do you have experience in emergency planning or business continuity within a large organisation? Want to put it to use in the NHS and help keep our patients and staff safe?

We’re looking for an Emergency Planning Officer to join the team on maternity cover for 10 months until August 2024.

Our Emergency Planning team play a crucial role in keeping our hospitals, services, staff, and patients safe. It’s their job to help us to effectively prepare for, plan and respond to major incidents – everything from winter weather, fires and floods to cyber-attacks, loss of power, industrial action, and civil emergencies.

This is really interesting and varied role, and you’ll contribute to everything from major incident plans and responses, risk assessments, planning and training sessions and resources, to staff debriefs, lessons learnt and cascading actions across key staff and teams.

We’re looking for someone with a degree or significant experience in emergency planning, ideally within the NHS or another large or public sector setting (Local Government, Fire Service, Police etc.). You’ll also need great people skills, be able to get across complex information across to different staff and audiences, and a sound knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance for emergency planning in the NHS.

The team works with a wide variety of Trust staff across individual departments, sites and hospitals, our senior managers and directors, as well as regional and national agencies, partners and emergency services. Together they provide expert advice and support to make sense of complex legal requirements, mitigate the risk and impact of various adverse events, and draw up, test, and implement contingency plans to minimise the impact on our patients and keep services running smoothly no matter the situation.

In this role, you’ll help to support our Head of Organisational Resilience and team of Business Continuity Leads to make sure our staff and clinical teams have effective, coordinated contingency and business resilience plans to respond to emergencies, and that they are well prepared through robust testing and training.

You’ll also offer advice and support to make sure the Trust meets a range of best practice and statutory requirements, such as Civil Contingencies Act (CCA) 2004 and NHS Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response (EPRR) guidance.
