Job overview
This is a fixed term appointment up to 12 months. The posts do not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a ‘training post’, full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to ST 7+/appropriate to an individual holding a Certificate of Completion of Training.
The position would suit a senior trainee wishing to expand their experience in the field of device implantation, (Including complex devices, sub-cutaneous ICDs, leadless devices, conduction system pacing and lead extraction). There is also an opportunity to gain further training in Inherited cardiac conditions and or heart failure

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
- MB ChB or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
- Basic Medical Degree
Desirable criteria
- MD/PhD
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad Training in general Cardiology
- Extensive specialist training in devices and/or electrophysiology (final year or post-CCT or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- BHRS or IBHRE accreditation in Devices/EP
- Sub-specialty training in heart failure or Devices + ICC
Research
Essential criteria
- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
- Basic understanding of research methods and statistics
Desirable criteria
- Publications in Peer reviewed journals.
Teaching and Training
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors
Continous Professional Development
Essential criteria
- Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
Desirable criteria
- Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
Personal Attributes
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values
- Good written communication skills
- The applicant must demonstrate skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking the English language that enables effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues as set out in the GMC’ good medical practice (2013).
