A rare opportunity has arisen for you to apply for the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse (AfC Band 7) post on the Cardiac Catheter Suite within the Cardiology department of the South Yorkshire Regional Services.

The Cardiac Catheter Suite provides specialised Cardiac services, both elective and emergency care, to the whole of the South Yorkshire region.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

Provide leadership and management for the Cardiac Catheter Suite patient provision.

Provide 24 hours continuing responsibility for the Cardiac Catheter Suite.

Ensure that the highest possible quality care is delivered within the Cardiac Catheter Suite and that it meets the expectations of individual patients.

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RGN Level one
  • NMC registered
  • To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
  • Continuous professional development
  • First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes)
Desirable criteria
  • Non-Medical Prescribing or willing to undertake

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post registration cardiology experience
  • Extensive experience at Band 6 within a Cath lab or equivalent level experience
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team
  • Previous experience deputising for Senior Sister / Charge Nurse
Desirable criteria
  • Academic courses relevant to role Leadership qualification
  • Specialist training relevant to role Advanced Life Support (ALS)

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of relevant post basic training and continuous professional development
  • Completion of advanced clinical and management competencies within the cath lab setting
  • Demonstration of involvement in unit developments, undertaking specific responsibilities within the CCS
  • Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis, with groups, and the Multidisciplinary Team
  • Excellent performance management skills.
  • Highly developed leadership skills with excellent interpersonal skills – ability to form positive relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to manage complex workload under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Persuasion and influencing skills – ability to present ideas and proposals effectively.
  • Possesses a ‘can do’ approach to problems and will keep going when things are tough.
