Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) is one of the UK's premier Foundation Trusts, with an operating budget in excess of £1bn. It provides a broad range of healthcare services to the population of South Yorkshire and beyond. The Trust is looking to appoint an enthusiastic procurement professional to join the Procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient procurement service across a range of stakeholders.
There will be some element of remote working in line with the Trust Home Working Policy.
The department is looking for a dynamic and experienced procurement professional to enhance relationships with stakeholders, to drive productive collaboration and effective forward planning to manage non-pay activity.
Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager, the Procurement Assistant will provide procurement expertise to stakeholders within the Trust: by undertaking low value procurements for IT products and services.
Main duties of the job
To provide the Procurement Team with effective and professional administrative and clerical support.
To ensure the Trusts achieve value for money in the purchasing of goods and services, with appropriate competitive quotations from suppliers.
To ensure that Trusts’ procedures governing expenditure (Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions, related STH/SCH Policies) are complied with, and that the Trusts meets their related obligations under Procurement Regulations, legislation and English contract law.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Assistant to join the Procurement department; a role which will be pivotal in delivering substantial savings to the Trust.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE Maths & English, grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- Willing to study for Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Level 4 Diploma
- Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Level 3 Certification or relevant experience
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience in working in an office environment.
- Previous experience in dealing with telephone and email queries
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in working in the NHS
- Previous experience in a computer based finance package (Procurement Function)
Skills and Knowledge

- Experience of MS Excel, MS Word & Email
