An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology and Oncology Daycare team at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.  This is a fixed term full time post with the possibility of the post becoming substantive  (Secondment would be considered).

Are you an experienced band 5 Registered Paediatric Nurse looking for a challenging new experience or wanting to develop new skills within paediatric nursing?

Haematology and Oncology Daycare is a busy ambulatory care unit  offering a range of therapies including chemotherapy administration, apherisis procedures and acts as the triage point for the children and young people receiving care under the Principle Treatment Centre. The unit also offers experience in caring for homoeopathic stem cell transplantation patients pre and post procedure and non malignant haematology conditions.

The  service needs a band 5 nurse who can maintain professionalism and who takes pride in the care they give to the patients and their families, as well as being dedicated to their own personal and professional development and the development of the service. In return we will offer you the opportunity to develop skills in central venous access device care, chemotherapy administration and care of children and young people receiving the majority of their care as an out patient. We have a dedicated Clinical Education Team and access to ongoing professional development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

• To co-ordinate and provide skilled nursing (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under the NMC Code of Conduct.
• To contribute to the continuing development of nursing, including the supervision of junior nurses and support staff.
• Act as an advocate for patients.
• To plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for an allocated patient group, in consideration of individual need, using prioritisation and delegation skills.
• To assist the team in managing and developing the Unit
• To work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, internal and external to the organisation, to facilitate holistic seamless care delivery for all Trust Patients.
