An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Neurology team at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist. Applications are invited from candidates with appropriate training and experience for the post of Consultant in Paediatric Neurology. The specialist team are keen to develop specialist interests within neurology and there would be an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop within their area of special interest. This would be discussed with the specialist team to ensure that the specialist skills compliment and support the existing team and the neurology service.
The post is full-time and is based predominantly at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and the Ryegate Children’s Centre.
Applicants should possess CCST/CCT in Paediatrics (Paediatric Neurology) at the time of commencing the appointment or be within 6 months of CCST/CCT at the time of interview, or have equivalent level training, and have had appropriate experience within a dedicated Paediatric Neurology Unit of general paediatric neurology. This post is designed to support and develop Paediatric Neurology services and it is expected the successful candidate will have appropriate experience and enthusiasm in this area of medicine.
If the person appointed elects to undertake a maximum part-time contract, he/she will be required to devote substantially the whole of his/her duties to the post and give them priority at all times.

DUTIES OF POST:
1. General Duties - to deliver general paediatric neurology services and epilepsy services. This role will include on call.
2. Liaison - to work with the Trusts Management team to make optimum use of clinical and other resources.
3. Teaching - to take part in the training programme at undergraduate and post graduate level.
4. Research and Audit - to take part in local, regional and national audit.
5. Continuing Professional Development - the Trust is committed to supporting the professional and personal development of consultant staff.
6. Cover - to take a share in providing on-call consultant cover and will be required to provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence.

- MRCPCH or equivalent
- APLS training / Level 3 safeguarding training

- Relevant Higher Degree
Training

- Should have completed a recognised higher specialised training programme or equivalent in paediatrics with Higher Specialist training in Neurology, i.e. must have CCST/CCT in Paediatrics (Paediatric Neurology) or be within 6 months of attaining it
Clinical Experience

- Wide experience in Paediatric Neurology with at least 3 years' experience in a tertiary centre and experience in epilepsy and pre-surgical evaluation
- Good clinical experience in paediatrics
Audit/Research

- Competence in clinical audit

- Able to initiate and carry out medical research projects
Teaching

- Experience in training undergraduate medical students and post graduate doctors
