An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neuromuscular team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital as a Coordinator. This is a key role to the day to day functioning of the Neuromuscular Service. There is also the opportunity to further support the various teams within the Neurodevelopmental Care Group.
You will be a good team player with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills. Experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential.
It is essential that you can manage a busy workload with competing demands, use your initiative and communicate accurately and sensitively to staff members and patients. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
You will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. You will share the Trust values and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Main duties of the job
The role has a variety of duties, crucially:
- Coordination of MDTs and appointments, ensuring plans are in place for patients and all relevant outcomes and actions are followed up, as well as supporting documentation completed
- Liaising with other a wide range of clinical colleagues to facilitate patient care and assessment
- Capturing a range of data accurately and in good time
- Provide general comprehensive administrative support to clinical teams

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, with a GCSE in Maths and English language (grade C or above)
- Level 3 typing/word processing or equivalent qualification and experience.
- NVQ Level 4 in Business Administration or equivalent or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience
Desirable criteria
- Willingness to undertake relevant study to enhance skills/knowledge
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of a range of administrative processes
- Experience of organising and implementing administrative procedures to support a multi-disciplinary customer focussed service.
- Audio typing experience
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of using a wide range of IT and information systems including Microsoft Office.
- Experience of scheduling/co-ordination of activities and or resources
Desirable criteria
- Experience of staff supervision/performing appraisals
- Experience of using hospital information systems
- Experience of working with parents/families.
Knowledge and skills
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to provide a proactive and high quality customer focused service.
- Ability to input, retrieve and analyse information
- Ability to manage conflict and difficult, challenging and sensitive situations
- Strong interpersonal skills, for effective working with colleagues and internal and external customers

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
