Job overview

The Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit part time Domestic Assistants to join our friendly team and help maintain the high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital.

Previous experience in a NHS cleaning environment would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided. You must be enthusiastic, flexible and able to work alone and use initiative.

The Domestic Assistant is responsible for providing high standards of cleanliness using modern methods and machinery.

The part time vacancy is 15 hours per week, working 5 days per week, working hours are 5.00 pm – 8.00 pm covering Monday to  Friday.

 

 

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing high standards of cleanliness in the theatres department using modern methods and machinery.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Cleaning of toilets, urinals, sinks, baths, wash hand basins.
  • Static mopping of floors and walls and other high surfaces.
  • Damp mopping of floors.
  •  Buffing, spray cleaning and scrubbing of hard floors.
  • Suction cleaning of floors.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths & English (grade C or above) or Functional skills level 2
Desirable criteria
  • Basic Food Hygiene
  • NVQ level 1&2 in Cleaning Sciences or equivalent.

Experience

Desirable criteria
  • To have previous hospital domestic experience

Knowledge & Skills

  • To be physically fit for duties required
