This is a rare opportunity for someone with a background in Electrical or Mechanical engineering looking for a career in the NHS.

We are looking for a suitably qualified, well-motivated individual to join a small team of estate professionals.  You will assist in the efficient management of the estate, including the operation and maintenance of the Trust’s hospitals, engineering services infrastructure and buildings.

Main duties of the job

You will need to combine excellent technical credentials with good communication skills.  Well organised, financially aware and computer literate, you will have previous experience in M&E building services maintenance or facilities management.

Candidates should be educated to a minimum of HNC/HND or a suitable equivalent and experience in electrical or building services engineering.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to pursue a career in NHS Estates Management.

Person specification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering building services operations and maintenance
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the standards and techniques applicable to operational estates management
  • Supervisory / management experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in healthcare Environment
  • Understanding of health technical memorandum HTM guidance relating to hospital building services
  • Use of CAFM systems
  • Knowledge and understanding across engineering & building

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • HNC/HND/BTEC in a subject relevant to the post or suitable equivalent or equivalent experience
  • Recognised qualifications demonstrating a background in engineering/construction (City & Guilds, NVQ’s etc.) or equivalent experience
  • Asbestos awareness or equivalent experience
  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification or equivalent experience
  • Full driving licence
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification ILM level 4 equivalent
  • Management of Asbestos
  • Legionella Responsible Person
  • Authorised Person for systems such as HV/LV, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems and ventilation
