Job overview

The Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust  (RDaSH) are looking for a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse to work with  the Doncaster School Age Immunisation Team delivering immunisation in schools, community clinics and at home visits across Doncaster.

The post is based on the Tickhill Road hospital site  so  requires the post holder to be able to travel across Doncaster to schools and other venues transporting the necessary equipment.

The successful person will be  an  enthusiastic and self motivated individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who  can engage with children and adults of all ages.  They will be a key member of the team working alongside colleagues to ensure effective delivery of this Public Health programme which also requires the ability to work autonomously at times. 

This post is for 37.5 hours per week in school term time  only

Main duties of the job

To support the delivery of the school age immunisation programme, which takes place in schools, community clinics and home visits.  

To respond to outbreaks, working in collaboration with local public health teams 

To ensure the service is delivered safely, effectively and to a high standard.

To assess risk to support effective decision making and the implementation of individualised care

To remain up to date with training requirements, current practice and continuous learning through CPD and research led developments. 

Engage effectively with schools, children, young people and their families 

Identify vulnerable children and follow agreed policies and procedures 

Be responsible for the management and transportation of vaccines  and equipment  to and from sessions

Complete  documentation  and maintain accurate records 

Ensure cold chain is maintained  whilst in a community setting and  escalate incidents via correct procedure

To promote School age immunisations , sharing accurate and up to date information

Promote the trust values at all times
