Job overview
The role involves joining a team of psychological professionals supporting working age people with complex psychological difficulties, severe mental illness and/or complex trauma. The postholder will be based in at least one CMHT, but will support the wider Doncaster Care Group as part of a psychology hub, and as service needs require. We are looking for an experienced, resilient and reflective applied psychologist who can work with enthusiasm and versatility. We are especially looking for someone who has experience of, and is keen to support, the already successful mobilisation of therapeutic pathways for complex emotional needs including Structured Clinical Management and DBT.
Main duties of the job
- Accountable for own professional practice in the delivery of specialist care (individual and group) to clients with complex psychological or mental health conditions and/or complex trauma across (Doncaster) adult community mental health teams.
- To provide psychological assessment with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of data from a variety of sources.
- To provide clinical supervision to qualified psychologists and offer training, formulation sharing, consultancy and reflective practice to non-psychological colleagues across various teams.
- To be compassionate in meeting the needs of clients, their carers and families.
- (Where appropriate) to undertake formal research / service evaluations and to act as field supervisor for doctorate clinical psychology trainees.
- To be pro-active in continual service improvement.
- To promote, at all times, a positive image of people with mental health difficulties, the psychology service and wider Trust.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Training
Essential criteria
- Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees / junior psychological professionals
- Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice, e.g., DBT, SCM, EMDR, CAT
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Assessed experience of working as a qualified applied psychologist, with extensive experience at the Senior (minimum Band 8a) level
Desirable criteria
- Accredited supervisor for delivery of therapy for SMI presentations
- Experience of working with pathways leads in supporting the effective delivery of psychological interventions
- (Clinical) leadership experience of psychological staff
