We are seeking a dynamic and committed Psychiatrist within our Community Directorate in Doncaster.

The Community Mental Health Teams cover 4 localities, South, Central, East and North of Doncaster. The post holder would be aligned to South Locality which is a predominantly urban area. 

You would be joining the Doncaster Consultant network, which covers the Community and Inpatient services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to provide consultant psychiatric input to the Adult South Community Mental Health Team.

Main Duties will include:

  • Clinical Leadership.
  • Discussing patients in the MDT meeting and with keyworkers/lead professionals, on an individual basis.
  • Assessing patients with complex mental health issues with the team.
  • Initiating medication and contributing to patients’ management and treatment plans.
  • Quality improvement of the service – audit and service development projects.
  • Clinical Supervision of the Junior doctors assigned to the CMHT.
  • Teaching – providing teaching sessions to the CMHT on relevant clinical topics.
  • Teaching junior doctors assigned to the team.
  • Play a leading role in Business/Management Meetings for the team.
  • The post holder will take the medical lead in service development and the implementation of any changes to practice as required in line with evolving evidence and tailored to meet local need.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with the GMC and license to practice Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Adult Psychiatry or a trainee within six months of completing their CCT.
  • Approved or eligible for Approved Clinician Status.
  • Approved or eligible for approval under section 12(2) MHA 1983.
Desirable criteria
  • MD, Management qualification, other professional qualification (e.g. CBT, PSI, CAT).
  • MRCPsych or equivalent higher qualification. Higher Specialist Training in Adult Psychiatry (e.g. SpR scheme).

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience within General Adult psychiatry.
Desirable criteria
  • Prior experience working as a Consultant in General Adult psychiatry.
