 Do you have creative skills that you can use to help engage patients within an acute hospital setting?

We have an exciting opportunity to join Ward 1&3 as an Activities Coordinator. Ward 1&3 is a welcoming  team and cares for older patients who have sustained Orthopaedic trauma, we work closely with the rest of the Multidisciplinary Team  to provide quality care and this role is vital to the experience patients have within our care.

Main duties of the job

Working alongside the Registered Nurses,  planning appropriate activities for  patients. Examples of activities include talking to patients, helping patients with arts and crafts, jigsaws.

Engage with both patients and relatives to promote the importance of hydration and nutrition.

The successful candidate would be able to continue these events and also  organise fundraising  to help provide further activities.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Documented evidence of 2 years experience of working in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience as a Healthcare/ Therapy assistant
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working with older people with dementia
  • previous experience of leading a group

Qualifications

Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent certificate recognised by the Trust

Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates good verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a kind and caring manner with an understanding disposition of the needs of the older persons who has dementia.
  • Be interested and committed to caring for all patients including older people from any culture environmental background or illness.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Organisational Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and has good attendance.
  • Precise and methodical in working practice and able to work under own initiative.
