Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our Respiratory secretarial team at Doncaster Royal Infirmary to cover maternity leave. 

Main duties of the job

You will be required to maintain a high standard of administrative support to the Respiratory team ensuring that robust systems are in place for the efficient end to end patient pathway. Ensure that digital transcriptions are managed timely in accordance with Trust expectation. Provide proactive waiting list coordination to ensure patients are booked in line with clinical priority and national/local waiting times and to support the best use of capacity for patient pathway

Qualification or Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent qualification/relevant experience
  • RSA III or NVQ III or or equivalent qualification/relevant experience
  • ECDL or equivalent qualification/relevant experience
Desirable criteria
  • Business Administration Level II Apprenticeship

Organisational Skills

Essential criteria
  • A methodical and organised approach to work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accurate data entry, typing and checking skills

Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to deal calmly and diplomatically with a range of personalities and situations
  • Team Player with a professional approach to work and colleagues; able to develop good working relationships
  • Trustworthy, punctual and reliable

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working in a clerical/administrative role
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word
  • Ability to work to and promote Standard operating procedures / performance targets
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Referral to Treatment Patient Access Policies and procedures
  • Fully conversant with all waiting list functions on PAS and the ability to action these independently.
