We have an exciting opening for a Dietetic Assistant to join our weight management team, which includes Dietitians, a Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist, and support staff at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will receive training and supervision from Registered Dietitians and Nutritionists. As part of our team, you will contribute to improving the dietary and lifestyle habits of adults within our weight management service. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and leading weight management sessions for groups, as well as providing one-on-one support.
We seek a collaborative individual who is capable of working independently, shows initiative, and possesses a strong understanding of health and safety protocols.
Essential skills include effective planning and organizational abilities. Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work is also necessary.
The role involves working across both Bassetlaw and Doncaster Hospital sites, so the capacity to travel between Trust locations and nearby areas is beneficial. The post is for 18.75 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
· Under the direct supervision of the Dietitian, facilitate the provision of weight management and physical activity advice, in both a one to one and group setting, to outpatients across the Trust.
· To work within agreed guidelines and protocols
· To assist in the delivery and organisation of dietetic services within a weight management service
· To undertake specific clinical responsibilities or projects supporting the overall delivery of dietetic services
· To work independently with some patients when determined by a Dietitian.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and interest in food and health
- Previous experience of facilitating groups
- Previous healthcare experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience facilitating weight management groups
- Previous experience of advising patients one to one
- Previous experience of taking anthropometric measurements e.g Height, weight and BMI
Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- Qualification in maths and English
- Basic IT skills e.g. email, Microsoft Office
Desirable criteria
- NVQ / City and guilds or other qualification in nutrition
- Use of Clinical IT systems e.g. System 1
- Basic food hygiene certificate

Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with colleagues and members of the public of all ages, both one-to-one and with groups
- Awareness and understanding of confidentiality, dignity and privacy
