A rare opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join the Trust’s expanding Data Quality Assurance Team.

You will be joining the Team at an exciting time and will be instrumental in driving forward data quality improvements across the Trust.  You will take a lead role in supporting the Clinical Division(s) in achieving ‘Right First Time’, ensuring that the Trust has high quality data for performance reporting and the delivery of the highest quality care to patients.

The main duties of the role centre around working closely with the Data Quality Assurance Manager / Assistant Data Quality Assurance Manager in supporting the Divisions in action planning / facilitation of improvement in line with agreed key performance indicators.  Where possible quality improvement (Qi) methodologies will be used.

Main duties of the job

You will provide expert guidance in relation to National and local data assurance / quality rules, such as Referral to Treatment (RTT). 

You will undertake audits of the data held on Trust administrative and clinical systems (including the PAS system), write audit reports and make recommendations for improvement based on audit findings all with a keen focus on ‘Right First Time’ and delivering a safe and effective service for patients.

Working closely with the Division(s) you will identify training requirements, plan and develop training materials and deliver training to improve data quality, ensuring that all learning styles are met. You will also be working closely with colleagues within the wider Information & Clinical Coding Departments to provide a collaborative approach to Data Quality.

Following a recent expansion the Data Quality Assurance Team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises of a Data Quality Assurance Manager, an Assistant Data Quality Assurance Manager, RTT Trainer, 2 x Data Quality Assurance Team Leaders, a Data Quality Assurance Harm Lead, 3 Data Quality Assurance Business Partners and 18 Data Quality Assurance Officers, working across all sites.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • English and Maths GCSE or equivalent qualification/relevant experience.
  • Educated to diploma level in relevant subjects or equivalent qualification/relevant experience.
  • ECDL or equivalent qualification/relevant experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Qi Training Course undertaken / participation in a service improvement project
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant NHS experience in a relevant field, such as a patient administration or data quality / assurance role.
  • Expert understanding and application of Referral to Treatment (RTT) principles.
  • Significant experience in using a range of hospital administration and clinical systems including Patient Administration Systems (PAS)
  • Experience of using and finding relevant information in hospital case notes/electronic patient records
  • Significant experience of data handling, including source data, data collection and inputting of data
  • Experience of undertaking data assurance audits

Inpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Clear communicator with excellent written and verbal skills. Confident to present to small groups.
  • Able to handle constant interruptions and changing priorities to workload.
  • Consistently making suggestions for service improvement.
