This exciting  new role will provide a robust end to end tracking and management for patients referred into our Gastroenterology team on Cancer pathways, Upper GI and NSS

This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced administrator looking to expand there skills and knowledge

The post is full time for a fixed term of one year supporting Gastroenterology across three sites and  based at Doncaster Royal infirmary

Main duties of the job

You will be required to maintain a high standard of administrative support to the Gastroenterology medical admin team ensuring that robust systems are in place for the efficient management and tracking  of patients on their Cancer pathways.

Ensure that digital transcriptions are managed timely in accordance with Trust expectation.

Provide proactive waiting list coordination to ensure patients are booked in line with clinical priority and national/local waiting times and to support the best use of capacity for patient pathway.

Person specification

Qualification or Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or suitable equivalent qualification or relevant experience
  • RSA III or NVQ III or suitable equivalent level administrative qualification or relevant experience
  • ECDL or equivalent qualification / demonstrable experience
Desirable criteria
  • Business Administration Level II Apprenticeship

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience working in a clerical/administrative role
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word
  • Customer care experience
  • Ability to work to and promote Standard operating procedures / performance targets
  • Experience of working within a busy/demanding environment. E.g. Multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Thorough knowledge of health care system and processes
  • Understanding of Primary Care, GP and Community Services
  • Knowledge of Referral to Treatment Patient Access Policies and procedures
  • Understanding of patient priorities and targets in relation to appointments and waiting times, specifically Referral to Treatment
