Job overview

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, well organised and enthusiastic person, with a thorough understanding of the principles of clinical governance within the NHS, to join the corporate Executive Medical Director's team at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Working 20 hours per week, the post holder will support the Clinical Governance and Professional Standards Coordinator to ensure the elements of clinical governance are implemented across the organisation in a seamless and integrated manner. 

Interview date will be Monday 22nd July 2024.

Main duties of the job

This role will work with the Trust’s Clinical Governance and Professional Standards Coordinator to:

  •  Ensure the elements of clinical governance are implemented within the Trust in a seamless and integrated manner.
  • Regularly review and monitor clinical governance processes at specialty, division and corporate level ensuring they meet Trust requirements
  • Maintain the Trust’s Safe and Effective Committees, developing the agenda and forward work plan and monitor all actions to ensure closure
  • Provide specialised guidance and support to Clinical Governance Leads and teams across the Trust on governance-related matter
  • Provide external reviews/assessments, when required, and monitor resultant action plans ensuring appropriate scrutiny through governance processes

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent or equivalent experience
  • GCSE English Grade C or above or equivalent experience
  • GCSE Maths Grade C or above or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
Desirable criteria
  • Analysing data for accuracy on behalf of staff for publication in committee reports
  • Knowledge of legal/medical terminology and procedures

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of NHS structure and governance processes
  • Understanding of the respective roles of CQC, NHSE/I, MHRA, NICE and other regulatory healthcare organisations
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate a workload from a non-hierarchical position
  • Experience of working in a pressured busy environment
  • Experience of working closely with colleagues of varying seniority
  • Experience of analysing problems and identifying solutions
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the functions of the medical director’s directorate
  • Experience of leading a small project or service change
  • Experience of working in other areas of governance
