An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and customer focused Clinical System Manager to join our Digital Support team. If you’re a team player who is passionate about providing our customers with a high level of support, have a strong systems management background in an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) environment, then we’d love to hear from you. 

 The Trust is investing significantly in digital technologies, and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a wider operational support team taking care of and developing and expanding the Trusts IT systems.

 

If you like to contribute your existing skills and knowledge increase your existing knowledge of electronic patient systems, continue to develop professionally in your field, and play a key role is a team providing excellent customer service to end users across the Trust and wider health community, then this could be the role for you.

 The post-holder will predominantly be expected to work on a shift cover basis between 8 AM and 6 PM, but occasional out of hours working may be needed to support system implementations, upgrades, and in support of major incident situations. 

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide specialist support on the set-up, configuration, maintenance, and support of various systems, including day-to-day support, new version upgrades, testing and integration. This will involve working closely with other colleagues in the team and wider Digital service, clinicians (including the Chief Clinical Information Officer), and with the Project Management and IT Training teams, to ensure the system is configured and functions as required, and that new software versions and other changes are appropriately designed and robustly tested prior to implementation. 

 This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing team, providing an excellent service to our busy clinical end users across a wider health community. It is crucial the post holder has an agile and flexible approach and is willing and able to travel to other sites as necessary, including work to support use by colleagues in the prison service. 

 The post also includes responsibility to lead, support, and train junior members of staff working in the team.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in a systems management role for a large system, in an end-user environment.
  • Experience of supporting complex clinical systems.
  • Experience of organising and chairing meetings.
  • Experience of working within the NHS acute hospital environment.
  • Ability to carry out system testing in a formal structured manner.
  • Ability to define project tasks and plan their execution within the framework of a formal Project structure.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of relevant IT management issues and techniques e.g. system change control, user acceptance, helpdesk provision, service level agreements, security standards & data protection.

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Post graduate level education or equivalent experience in management of complex IT clinical systems.
  • Experience of information asset administration
Desirable criteria
  • ITIL Qualification
  • PRINCE 2 Foundation

Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate technical information to all levels of staff and management in terms easily understood to ensure systems are used correctly.
  • Ability to lead user groups and communicate with wide groups in meetings or training sessions.
  • Ability to record and analyse information from disparate sources to enable diagnosis of problems within information systems.
  • Ability to identify improvements to system or working practice and identify training needs.
  • Advanced Keyboard Skills; including Microsoft.

Interpersonal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work autonomously, using own initiative
  • Ability to carry out planned out of hours work from time to time e.g. new release final acceptance testing.
