DCC- Sister/Charge Nurse

Band 6

Job overview

Are you a qualified critical care nurse with strong leadership potential who would like to be part of the senior nursing team in a large dynamic and friendly critical care department?

At Doncaster we have 22 beds - combined level 3 (ICU) and level 2 (HDU), we care for a wide range of adult critically ill medical and surgical emergency and elective cases. The unit has an excellent nursing skill mix and staff work in teams of five nurses so you get the experience and excitement of working in a large department but still have the friendly and supportive atmosphere.

We have a fully comprehensive career pathway offering induction, preceptorship and critical care qualifications as well as advanced clinical skills and leadership opportunities for experienced staff. We have a critical care nurse consultant and clinical nurse educators to support you and there are many opportunities to be involved in service improvement and research projects.

Main duties of the job

We have a great working relationship with allied health professionals who support our patients, and our medical team who provide 24 hour cover to the unit and help support and educate our nurses. For experienced critical care nurses there are very good opportunities for career progression. If you are interested and have any questions or would like an informal visit we would be happy to meet you.

We welcome applications from ambitious critical care nurses with significant critical care experience, and recognised critical care and mentoring qualifications. You will join our large team of sisters/charge nurses with the opportunity to supervise and support junior staff as well as maintaining your clinical skills and developing further management and leadership skills.
