Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a GP just like you, seeking an alternative to the daily grind (only big cities can offer) to instead come and work in friendly Somerset in our new co-located Urgent Treatment Centre. This can be a permanent or fixed term position, part time or full time – we are very adaptable. 

Main duties of the job

key duties required but not limited to are as followed 

• To act as an autonomous clinician providing clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment (where appropriate), for patients that attend the UTC, either walk in patients or those referred from other stakeholders such as the NHS 111.

• To provide triage where required.

• Evaluate clinical information from history and examination and initiate appropriate treatment, referral or discharge.

• Refer patients to appropriate care settings, where necessary

• Discharge or treat, within scope of practice, as appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide excellent direct clinical care for patients presenting to the UTC, while working to maintain operational standards.

Offer support within the UTC predominantly to our Enhanced Practitioners 

Be responsible for the initial assessment, management and discharge or referral of patients

Ensure that accurate, timely and sufficiently comprehensive information is communicated to our patients, their carers and General Practitioners. This includes the clinical coding of every patient.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration with GMC
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • Certification of Completion of Training (JCPTGP/PMETB)
  • Inclusion on Performers List
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of a commitment to on-going personal & professional development
  • MRCGP

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of audit and improving care for patients
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of providing primary care in and out of hours
  • Experience of working in primary care in an area with significant health problems
