Band 4 CAMHS Community Support Worker (Eating Disorders)

Band 4

Job overview

We are delighted to have opportunities for enthusiastic and dedicated mental health support workers to join us and work within a busy and innovative CAMHS Outreach service to offer Home Treatment for young people with eating disorders.

Our service operates from 8am - 8pm 7 days a week, across Bristol, South Glos & North Somerset. We are looking for staff to cover these areas. Due to the wide patch we cover, driving license and car to allow the ability to travel across these areas as crucial to the role.

The roles will include a variety of training opportunities, including training in family based treatment, CBT-E, crisis support and supportive eating.

We will also offer opportunities to access our wider CAMHS training curriculum, alongside regular individual and group supervision. You would be working amongst a skilled, supportive & caring team of registered and non-registered practitioners.

• Temporary base is currently in Perry Road, Bristol.
• This is a developing service, which will enhance our current offer to young people who have eating problems. This includes community nursing and acute hospital support. The team will be operating at the interface of Acute Hospitals, Home Treatment and Inpatient Admission, alongside locality CAMHS teams.

  • Role includes working with YP who are being fed via Naso-Gastric (NG)  tube in their home environment. You will not be providing NG feeds.
  • See below and attached Job Description & person spec.

Main duties of the job

Our Service operates from 8am to 8pm, including weekends, which allows us to offer young people, and their families enhanced levels of support. We provide short term intensive home treatment (around 6 weeks) as an extension to a Community CAMHS care package.

We aim to support young people and their families to avoid inpatient admissions where possible and support them with recovery in a home setting.

The team currently is made up of a skilled mix of band 7 & band 6 Mental Health Practitioners & Band 4 Support Workers. We aim to work in pairs where possible, however there are times that you would be expected to work autonomously with indirect support and supervision from a registered practitioner.

This role will be working within a specialist CAMHS eating disorder service which offers a real opportunity to develop new skills whilst also increasing your current skills and knowledge base via direct work and specialist training.
