The award-winning Integrated Access Partnership (IAP) is seeking a Team Manager to join our innovative mental health service on a 12-month fixed term/secondment basis. The IAP provides a fully integrated urgent and emergency mental health care pathway across both 999 and 111 services in the South West. This exciting role offers the opportunity to help lead and develop our Mental Health Clinical Assessment Service (MH CAS) within the wider IAP model. You'll join an existing dynamic leadership team including another Team Manager and a Team Leader, working closely together to oversee all aspects of service delivery and development.
We're looking for an experienced leader with strong management skills to support our multidisciplinary team of registered and non-registered mental health professionals. While clinical registration is desirable, we welcome applications from both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds as we value diverse leadership experience.
You'll play a key role in shaping this nationally-recognised service as we continue to expand and innovate. With recent accolades from NHS England and parliamentary recognition, the IAP is at the forefront of transforming urgent mental health care and you will be key to ensuring its future success.
Main duties of the job
As an IAP Team Manager specialising in the MH CAS service, but still working across the IAP model, sharing roles and responsibilities with the the other team manager and team leader, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing direct leadership and management for the MH CAS service, including line management of a designated group of the whole IAP workforce
- Maintaining operational oversight of day-to-day service delivery across the IAP
- Ensuring a resilient, effective and engaged workforce through recruitment, retention and staff development initiatives
- Fostering a supportive team culture focused on wellbeing and continuous improvement
- Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team on service development and innovation
- Leading on quality improvement, auditing and service evaluation for the MH CAS
- Supporting complex operational decision-making when required
- Managing workforce planning, including rostering, sickness absence, and performance
- Overseeing staff engagement, onboarding, and retention strategies
- Representing the IAP in stakeholder engagement with key stakeholders
- Working in partnership with 999, 111 and urgent care services to enhance mental health crisis provision
- Contributing to the wider strategic development of the IAP model

Essential criteria
- Ability to manage teams and individuals in a complex and changing environment
- Project management skills
- Ability to form effective working relationships with other partners patient groups and stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of managing Health and/or Social Care staff and services
- Experience of developing and implementing new ways of working and procedures.
- Experience of managing complex caseload/workload demands
- Experience of developing and maintaining partnerships with external agencies, professional leads, staff and trades unions.
- Demonstrates practical knowledge of Mental Health legislation and understanding of mental health issues, clinical settings and psychosocial interventions
Desirable criteria
- Experience working as a mental health practitioner
Education and Qualification
Essential criteria
- Relevant education to degree level or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
Desirable criteria
- A professional qualification and current UK registration in either Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work.
- Post graduate qualification
