An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Speech and Language Therapy team at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Clinical Specialist SLT to join us on 9-month fixed month contract to cover maternity leave.
We currently have funding for 0.7WTE however would welcome interest from SLTs looking for full time or flexible working arrangements. We would also be interested in hearing from experienced Band 6 SLTs seeking an opportunity to develop their career further.
This post is suitable for an SLT with extensive experience in working with adults in an acute setting and will involve a range of leadership activities. Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
We are a dynamic SLT team, with new and ongoing projects, monthly CPD (continuing professional development) sessions and support for progression of competencies. We have established weekly video-fluoroscopy and FEES clinics (Fibre-optic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing service) to support timely instrumental assessment to our inpatient caseload.
In this role you will be working across multiple different specialities including Respiratory, Older Person's Unit, Haematology and Oncology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Surgery, and Medicine. You will also be required to provide support to the Acute Stroke, Neurology wards and the Intensive Care Unit as needed.

Qualifications & Training

- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
- Registered with Health Professions Council.
- Recognised post-grad dysphagia qualification.
- Level 2 video-fluoroscopy competencies or above.

Knowledge & Experience

- Significant experience as a specialist SLT in the acute adult population.
- Demonstrable ability to be a good team leader for an acute SLT team.
- Experience and understanding of dysphagia theory and knowledge of evidence-base for therapy.

- Experience teaching VFS competencies to junior SLTs.
- Experience working at a clinical specialist level in the acute adult population
