If you want to balance these professional opportunities with quality of life then Bath has it all. Bath is a beautiful Georgian city in the South West of England, and is England’s only city with UNESCO World Heritage Site status. There is a wealth of cultural and leisure opportunities, some of the best state and independent schools in the UK, whilst only 90 minutes from London and on the doorstep of the beautiful diverse South West countryside.

Main duties of the job

Lung cancer

The appointee will work alongside 5 other consultants with Thoracic subspecialty interest to help deliver the fast track cancer diagnosis service, reporting chest radiographs and 2-week wait CTs, performing lung biopsies and preparing and presenting at the weekly lung cancer multidisciplinary meeting.

Pulmonary hypertension

The RUH has a tertiary satellite specialist PH service, affiliated with The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Circa 250 referrals per annum are received from around the South West and Wales. The appointee will be involved in reporting CT and MRI for patients with suspected pulmonary hypertension and participating in the weekly PH MDT.

Cardiac CT

If possible, the appointee will contribute to the cardiac radiology service at the RUH.

We have dedicated Siemens Drive ultra fast pitch dual source scanners for cardiac CT. The RUH is a European reference site for Siemens CT, with two Drive scanners, one Siemens Edge plus and one Siemens Edge CT scanner. With a specialist cardiac CT list on average at least once a day, the department performs approximately 1200-1400 CTCAs per annum, including CT coronary angiography, aortic valve calcium scoring and TAVI planning scans. The RUH utilises FFRct post-processing analysis as part of the NHSE MedTech mandate.

The candidate must possess skills, particularly cross-sectional, applicable to a general department.
