Job overview

To assist the Dispensary Manager in leading  the Pharmacy team, under the supervision of a registered pharmacy professional, i.e. a Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician, in providing a high quality service to patients, Healthcare Professionals, other service users and Pharmacy staff Take part in the management of stock; including ordering and storing of stock, expiry date checking and to actively participate in routine stock checks Take an active role in accurately dispensing medicines from the Main Dispensary in accordance with RUH standard operating procedures (SOPs) to provide a high quality, efficient and timely service for inpatients, discharge to-take-away (TTA) medicines and other complex preparations Participate in reception duties to cover lunchbreaks and annual leave as directed Ensure the working environment is kept clean, tidy, in accordance with SOPs, Health and Safety and adhere to the Trust waste management policy. Support the Pharmacy Operations Manager and Dispensary Manager in the delivery of an effective, efficient and professional pharmacy service.

Main duties of the job

The main duties include, but are not limited to;

  • dispensing and checking medication
  • leading and developing the dispensary team. 
  • Supporting new members of staff in understanding the role and how this role fits into the care of our service users
