Health Care Support worker Endoscopy

Job overview

The endoscopy department at the Royal United Hospital is looking for part time  Health Care Support Workers to join the team to expand and deliver high quality care in an outpatient endoscopy setting . This role  will provide you with new skills, competence and development opportunities as well as being part of a knowledgeable,  friendly and supportive team.

Patient satisfaction surveys show us to be dedicated to providing our patients with knowledge-based explanation and information for a wide range of investigations in a caring an compassionate environment

The unit has five busy endoscopy theatres offering a range of investigations and therapies. We have close links with outpatients and Specialist nurses who help us make the patient experience valuable

We are a nationally accredited endoscopy unit and Bowel Cancer Screening Centre; we want to expand the nursing team in order to support this and our existing services to the high standard our patients have come to expect.

Endoscopy services are advancing. Would you like to be a part of this exciting and innovative service? Training will be provided.

You should be keen to learn and develop and understand the national quality and safety standards that affect and inform endoscopy services.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Registered Nurse's
  • Make endoscopy theatres ready for the session with equipment
  • Admit patients to the department as they arrive; check for compliance with pre procedure instructions. Complete pre procedure health checklist
  • Take physiological measurements as instructed
  • Support patients and their families with care and compassion at all stages of their procedure
  • Assist with therapeutic endoscopic procedures following training
  • Discharge patients post procedure with post procedure advice and simple results

  • Working towards a level 2 apprenticeship or NVQ
