Community Birth Team Band 6 Midwife

 Would you like to work in a highly motivated and friendly Maternity team covering Bath, North East Somerset and West Wiltshire? We are committed to providing high quality, woman-centred care, and have already implemented work to provide continuity of care for families.

 Rated ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC review, our service consists of an acute and 2 standalone birth centres. We also have 2 community midwifery led units, a 24 hour Maternity Assessment Unit and are in the planning stages of an alongside midwifery unit at the RUH site.  We are seeking self-motivated, innovative and flexible band 6 midwives to work within our community birth team supporting women and birthing people choosing to birth at home and in our stand alone birth centres. Main duties of the job

Professional 
• Fulfil the role of midwife as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council adhering to the 
Midwives Rules and Code of Practice thereby ensuring relevant registration is maintained. 
• Take personal responsibility for own professional development and up-dating in accordance with PREP requirements. 

Clinical 
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care throughout pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period. Also facilitate others in their practice. 
 
• Effectively prioritise clinical caseload to meet client need.

Education and Training 
• Be aware of national and local policies that have impacted upon the maternity services. 
 
• Be sufficiently flexible to change and develop practice in light of knowledge gained through reflection, research and audit. 

Managerial 
• Ensure relevant information is disseminated to staff within appropriate time scales, including the multi-disciplinary team if required. 
 
• Use effective interpersonal skills to lead and promote excellence in midwifery practice.
