Job overview

We are looking for an exceptional and enthusiastic person with extensive experience in all aspects of the blood transfusion pathway to join our Transfusion Team here in Bath. This is an opportunity to join our hard-working and ambitious team’s journey to improve our patients' experience and support clinical staff.   It is vital you are compassionate, committed to high quality patient care and have the skills to deliver the latest in evidence-based transfusion practice.

You will work with the members of the Transfusion Team and other key staff across the hospital site and the wider community, ensuring safe and effective working practice and effective use of resources, education of staff in all aspects of transfusion practice and patient blood management principles.  

This role is an exciting opportunity for either a Nurse or Biomedical Scientist with relevant experience and knowledge. 

Main duties of the job

  • To liaise with  members of the  Transfusion Team and other relevant stakeholders to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries. 
  • Provide specialist expertise and advice on blood transfusion and patient blood management issues. 
  • Line manage members of the Transfusion Team. 
  • To lead and support  the development, and implementation of programmes of nursing and medical care . 
  • To lead on development and delivery of the transfusion training programme and education.
  • To lead on clinical audit related to all aspects of transfusion and implement any changes to practice identified or recommended. 
  • To promote a culture of continual improvement in patient care. 
  • To actively participate in fulfilling blood transfusion quality and safety regulations, initiatives and directives .

  • Registered Nurse/ Biomedical Scientist with MSc in Transfusion
  • Experience equivalent to Master’s Degree level nursing
