Allied Health Professional Workforce Lead

The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce and education transformations and assurance across the Trust. The remit of this role covers all AHP services both Children and Adults inclusive of, but not limited to;

 

·       Adult & Children Physiotherapy

·       Adult & Children Occupational Therapy

·       Adult, Children & community Dietetics

·       Adult & Children Speech & Language

·       Podiatry

·       Orthotics

·       Orthoptics

·       Operating Departmental Practitioners

·       Paramedics

·       Sonographers

·       Therapeutic Radiography

·       Diagnostic Radiography

 

The AHP workforce lead will be responsible for shaping and delivery of the three key work-streams of the NHS long-term plan. Specifically, the role will maximize the training pipelines of AHP to ultimately ‘grow our own’ including pre-registration students, develop retention strategies to ensure the Trust retain and develop the AHP talent as well as clinical lead reform of services and AHP scopes of practice to deliver skilled professional expertise in a sustainable way.

Lead works-streams and line manage the AHP senior Practice Education Facilitator to ensure AHP workforce pipe-line is maximized by training to ‘grow our own’:

·     Early career engagement eg. Schools and work-experience

·     T-levels opportunities and placement quality assurance

·     Increasing cadets in the Trust

·     New to care programme for HCSW and AHP support workers

·     Training apprenticeship models for hard to recruit specialties e.g. Dietetics and Speech & Language therapies.

·     Embed equitable preceptorship experiences and competency framework for all AHP specialties.

·     Pre-registration student, placements, experience, quality assurance and mentorship/supervisor allocation.

·     Return to practice work-stream.

 

Lead works-streams to ensure the Trust retains AHP talent and further develop career opportunities.
