Main duties of the job

As an Assistant Accountant for Income, you will ensure that all income is invoiced accurately and in a timely manner and help to answer any queries  which may arise.  

This role fits within a busy, friendly finance department where we work as a team.   You will also help to complete monthly management accounts tasks and assist with preparing national reporting and statutory financial accounting returns.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a team we are continuously seeking to improve the quality of financial information provided to our many stakeholders and are looking for a candidate who can help us to improve our processes. 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Raising sales ledger invoices
  • Liaising with Trust staff to check the details required for the invoice
  • Liaise with customers and Trust staff to resolve any issues which may arise
  • Reconcile income raised to contracts
  • Reconcile income accounts within the accounts system.
  • Undertake a finance based apprenticeship if you wish to take up this role as an apprenticeship post.
  • Suggest improvements to processes affecting your work or the wider Finance team

 

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Five GCSEs including both Maths and English at grade 4 or above.
  • If not AAT part-qualified, has expressed willingness to participate in apprenticeship
Desirable criteria
  • AAT part-qualified

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates good Excel skills - gives examples of calculations that they use
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in NHS or Social Services Finance
  • Experience of working in a Finance department
  • Experience of using a computerised general ledger system - ideally Business World or equivalent (i.e as opposed to Sage or QuickBooks)
