Job overview

To provide responsive support services to the Imaging Department including good problem solving, in a fast and reliable manner.

Main duties of the job

Main Responsibilities of the Job

 

1. Assist the Radiographer with cleaning and IPC (Infection Prevention and Control)

 

2. Attend to the needs of the patient, ensuring their comfort and dignity.

 

3. Ensure that the necessary documentation accompanies the patient.

 

4. Use of the Radiology Information System to record patient information.

 

5. Assist the Radiographer with the manual handling of patients.

 

6. To act as chaperone for some examinations.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To assist Radiographer in the imaging room.

 

• Liaise with relevant staff/nurses/Consultants.

 

• To escort patients within the Radiology clinical imaging areas, changing cubicles and examination rooms.

 

• To assist with the moving of beds and wheelchairs and assisting the patient onto the imaging table.

 

• To ensure the continuous flow of patients through the Radiology rooms.

 

• To reassure the patient and provide basic information.

 

• To ensure the relevant documentation follows the patient.

 

• To maintain the tidiness and cleanliness of the examination room.

 

• To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

 

• To comply with Health and Safety rules, the local rules for the protection of persons against ionising radiation, and the agreed policies and procedures of the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent English & Mathematics grade D or above
  • NVQ level 2 in Health Care or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Hospital environment and medical terminology
  • Understanding of and commitment to confidentiality and data security requirements

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Patient care skills including a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Ability to empathise and negotiate
  • Good forward planning and ability to manage and prioritise own workload effectively.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work.
