Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service Manager

NHS AfC: Band 7 subject to AFC

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the tobacco dependency treatment team.

The Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service Manager will be responsible for operationalising the National Tobacco Dependence Programme being implemented as part of the NHS Long Term Plan (LTP). The LTP states that all people admitted to hospital who smoke will be offered NHS-funded tobacco treatment and support. You will work with colleagues and stakeholders throughout the Trust and with system partners to deliver the programme in line with the national requirements and the public health team’s service objectives. The post holder will take responsibility for the continuation of the programme.

Cross site working will be required to support both sites within the organisation.

Main duties of the job

  • Offering clinical and strategic leadership in the Trust’s tobacco dependency treatment  programme.
  • The post holder will support the local delivery of the national-mandate NHS England and NHS Improvement Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service models and pathways for Inpatients (Acute).
  • Ensuring the rollout of the tobacco dependency program within SaTH is planned and managed effectively, taking the lead in ensuring its successful delivery against agreed timelines and plans, and for the management and reporting of risk.
  • Manage and contribute to the reporting of progress/performance of the project to the tobacco dependency steering group and other committees as required.
  • Medicines optimisation and coordination of IT Solutions, (including referrals, Patient information, Outcomes, treatment Planning and transfer of treatment information between secondary and primary care).
