We are currently looking for a dynamic Staff Nurse to join our team on The Discharge Lounge at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. 

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for a safe discharge of our patients from the discharge lounge to their destination.
  • Making sure discharge letters and medications are with the patient before discharge
  • Patient centred care, assessing individual patient care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating plans of care for a group of patients in accordance with agreed policies and professional guidelines.
  • Transferring patients from the wards to the discharge lounge in a timely manner to help with capacity and flow. 
  • Making sure all referrals are made for our patients who need them. 
  • To take charge of the ward for a span of duty, normally working under the supervision of senior staff.
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current registration with the NMC
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship qualification.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • NHS experience either as a registered nurse or on a nursing student placement
  • Experience of working in an acute healthcare environment
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Post qualification experience of working in an acute NHS Trust.
