Job overview
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a part time Housekeeper to work within our friendly team on Ward 27.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, hard-working, housekeeper who will work as an integral part of the team ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment at all times.
You will need excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be liaising with and helping patients throughout the working day. You will also be required to communicate with all levels of staff both face to face and over the telephone.
The post holder will be required to maintain stock levels and participate in the ordering of stock. You will also be required to maintain a high level of cleanliness within the ward.
Applicants with previous experience in a health care setting are desirable, however you will need to demonstrate commitment to developing yourself to support the nursing team in caring for patients and ensuring the patient experience is positive.
Main duties of the job
Applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work under non-direct supervision, prioritising your own workload. We need someone with a flexible approach who will be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload.

The post holder will be required to maintain stock levels and participate in the ordering of stock. You will also be required to maintain a high level of cleanliness within the ward.
Recent experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment is essential along with an awareness of health and safety, as you will be working in a demanding environment. You are also required to be IT literate. Previous experience with stock control is desirable.

- Computer skills
- Worked to an educational standard that demonstrates an understanding of literacy and numeracy (GCSE grade 9-4 or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
- To have a basic knowledge of a hospital environment and infection control
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
