Community Podiatrist

NHS AfC: Band 6

Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust believes in fairness, equity and above all values diversity in all aspects of its work, as a provider of health services and as an employer of people. We provide visa sponsorship to applicant who require a visa to work in the UK, providing the role you’ve been recruited to meets the requirements set by the Home Office.

From 4 April 2024 overseas workers requiring a general Skilled Worker Visa (such as data analysts, IT and finance professionals, etc) but sponsored by an NHS organisation will need to meet the new salary threshold of £38,700. In addition, applications to the Health and Care Visa route for those occupations paid by NHS bands that are on the immigration salary, a list of skilled jobs which have lower salary requirements, will need to meet the national pay scale for their role or the new minimum salary threshold of £23,200 (whichever is higher). We advise that you check that the role you wish to apply for meets the requirement for sponsorship before applying.

Recent graduates who wish to apply for this role will start on  Band 5  with preceptorship available to enable development via structured competencies to Band 6 competency which would be initially assessed at the end of a 12 months period and quarterly thereafter as required.

What We Offer:
- Exposure to a varied caseload that will enhance your podiatric management skills.
- Opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
- A supportive environment that encourages reflective practice and continuous learning.
Please note this vacancy may close early if a high volume of applications is received, we advise you submit your application early to avoid disappointment.

Main duties of the job

  •  Acting as the lead clinician in Nail Surgery clinics where surgical procedures are performed under Local Anaesthetic.
  • Routine assessment and provision of specialist Podiatry competencies i.e. MSK, wound management etc.
  • Management of patients with complex pathologies in order to maintain mobility, independence and lower limb viability.
  • To maintain compliance with excellent Infection prevention and control standards.

If you are applying for this role as a development post without the skills and experience to provide the above level of Podiatric care we will support your development, providing development via shadowing, peer support, clinical supervision, mentorship following a review of your level of Band 5 competency.
