Job overview
Powys Teaching Health is looking to recruit a senior dental officer to provide a range of general dental services for North Powys residents. The role will allow an individual to work closely with other members of the community dental service including oral surgery, endodontics, special care and paediatrics. The role will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to gain additional skills with a varied and interesting job plan.
The hours of work are 22.5 over 3 days, one of which maybe a Saturday.

- Excellent oral and written skills
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Appropriate graduate qualification or equivalent in Dentistry
- Relevant postgraduate Dental Qualification
- Full registration with the GDC
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Competent clinician including all level 1 procedures, ability to work in a team as well as in isolation. Totally flexible in the ability to be able to work in different environments including a mobile dental unit. This will also include a domiciliary setting
- Current knowledge of dental surgery techniques, procedures, materials and concepts
- Appreciation of the requirements of confidentiality/consent
- Proven track record of being able to work on own initiative
- GDS experience
- Eligible for performers number
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary settings
- MOS experience
- Teaching experience
Technical Smills
Essential criteria
- Ability to achieve and maintain professional standards
- Knowledge of General Dental Services including use of electronic record keeping, NHS rules and regulations, understanding of the current FP17W form. Knowledge of Contract Reform and principles in Wales
Desirable criteria
- Ability to readily understand and analyse information
- Working knowledge of the Welsh healthcare system
- I.T skills
- Working knowledge of the current Welsh NHS policies/processes insofar as they relate to the delivery of special care dentistry in Wales

- Ability to be methodical with a good attention to detail
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- A willingness to undertake further training and personal development as required
Desirable criteria
- A full driving licence and ability to travel both within and outside Powys as required
