Resuscitation Officer advert

We have an exciting opportunity to offer this new role to Powys Teaching Health Board. The Resuscitation Officer will provide:

·        professional oversight of the arrangements for Resuscitation Services within a rural community service to meet the standards set out by the Resuscitation Council (UK).

·        professional advice on matters including policy development, training, clinical governance issues, equipment, and incident analysis.

·        manage the delivery of evidence-based Basic Life Support (BLS) and clinical skills training programmes.

A significant proportion of the role will be delivery of life support training to all grades of staff and you will therefore need to have proven teaching and assessing skills - further details can be found in the attached Job Description.

Main duties of the job

Provide professional oversight of the arrangements for Resuscitation Services within a rural community service to meet the standards set out by the Resuscitation Council (UK).

Provide professional advice on matters including policy development, training, clinical governance issues, equipment, and incident analysis.

Manage the delivery of evidence-based Basic Life Support (BLS) and clinical skills training programmes, which address the professional and service development needs of clinical and other staff. This will include training on arrangements for the care of the deteriorating patient, NEWS, and sepsis training.

This post will be fundamental in supporting the Health Board to meet the strategic objective of developing a competent and effective clinical workforce with appropriate levels of skills to meet both the present and future service requirements.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • NMC/HCPC/GMC Registered healthcare professional
  • Recognised teaching qualification e.g. Post Graduate certificate of education (PGCE)
  • Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS Instructor or willingness to complete course within 3 months of appointment
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical aspects of health care
  • Understand research and audit methods
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post registration experience in use of a wide range of relevant clinical skills and medical devices
  • Experience of teaching and/or presenting to a range of service users
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Understanding of Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines and requirements
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in using simulation mannequins including ‘Resus Annie’ and other relevant equipment

  • Highly developed communication skills, and able to communicate with staff at all levels

  • Highly developed presentational skills in both theory and practice
