Job overview
Powys Teaching Health Board is looking to recruit a specialist in special care dentistry to support experienced dental officers in the community dental service. The post is open to anyone living in the UK who is a registered specialist as the post is an innovation allowing the successful candidate to provide specialist advice and treatment planning using remote consultation software. This will enable the successful candidate to work from home for the vast majority of the time with no more than 8 physical clinics being needed in any one year. PTHB is a geographically large rural health board with no district general hospital and this innovation is designed to increase specialist access to special care dentistry. The successful candidate will need to be a team player and have the ability to confidently treatment plan patients using a combination of information from the treating dental officer/therapist and remote consultation information. Patients that are unsuitable to be treated in a primary and community care environment will need to have their care referred to a neighbouring trust or health board requiring the post holder to coordinate their care.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the associate dental director the post holder will be responsible for planning dental services for special care patients, including patients who suffer from anxiety and dental phobias.
Working for our organisation
