An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 3 clinical support worker to work within the Oxfordshire Sexual Health Service. The service has expanded to include comprehensive STI management and contraception to people attending our outpatient services in various locations across the county.

Our main base is at The Churchill Hospital in Oxford with clinics in East Oxford, Abingdon, Banbury, Bicester, Didcot, Kidlington, Witney and Wantage.

You will be required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi agency professional team, good communication is essential as our clients ages vary and they are from a diverse range of communities and backgrounds, many with English not being their first language

Experience is desirable although not essential, an interest in Sexual Health is crucial and training will be given to the successful applicant to learn new skills for future development.

Duties are varied and although the majority of the time will be spent at the Churchill Hospital you may be rostered to one of our satellite clinics, so the successful candidate needs to be flexible with hours of work which may involve some evenings, Saturday mornings and also have the ability to commute between clinics.

Our clinics are busy and you will see a variety of different patients.

The list of duties as follows is not exhaustive but does give an overall view of what the job consists of.

Assist with stocking up and the preparation of clinical rooms and closing down rooms at the end of the day.

Preparing supplies for satellite clinics.

Undertake urine testing, pregnancy testing, collecting samples and documenting/storing samples safely.

Chaperoning Ladies undergoing procedures such as coil fittings, (which are also done in Banbury and Didcot), Chaperoning examinations performed by a Male member of staff, 

Offer and perform Asymptomatic screens to patient who are eligible 

Microscopy training will be given so slides can be examined in our lab so a diagnosis can be made and treatment given Cleaning and tidying clinical rooms and checking /documenting room temperature daily, with a deep clean of the department done each Wednesday morning.

Patient Care:

Able to conduct and complete Aysmptomatic Sexual health screen

 

Venepuncture

 

Processing and Collecting patients samples e.g. swabs, urine, blood

 

Completing and interoperating Pregnancy test and Urinalysis.

 

To read and Interpreting Microscopy

 

To process online and offline testing kits

 

Communication:

Able to work as part of MDT

 

Advocate for patient if needed during procedures

 

Planning and Organisation:

Completing stock orders from peripheral clinics

 

Stocking up and cleaning of clinical Rooms

 

Support nursing team with link roles e.g. back care facilitator

 

Quality and Service Improvement:

Help support QI programmes, Clinical trials, Audit on the clinical floor
