Job overview
This 1 year fixed term contract will provide Maternity cover for the Paediatric Dietetic Gastroenterology service with support from the current band 6 dietitian.
You will provide nutritional support for children (both inpatient & outpatient) with a wide range of clinical conditions including inflammatory bowel disease, motility disorders, functional disorders, intestinal failure, coeliac disease & other malabsorptive and congenital conditions requiring specialist dietetic input.
As part of this role, you will support the allergy outpatient service providing one morning clinic a week; lead the dietetic care for gastro surgical patients on the ward and support junior colleagues with more complex allergy patients.
There is the option to be involved in line management of junior colleagues and contribute to the senior leadership within dietetics if interest and experience allows.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist dietetic support as a member of the gastro and allergy MDT to children under the care of Oxford Children's Hospital as outlined in more detail in the attached job description.
T Be a valued member of the dietetic paediatric team contributing to team meetings, CPD and other activities including student training and training and teaching of colleagues.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· Provision of dietetic care to children admitted to the Children’s hospital under the Gastroenterology team – this includes a wide range of complex conditions requiring specialist intervention.
Attendance at the weekly MDT meetings.
· Dietetic support for the surgical ward (wide variety of patient types including those who have had gut resections, oesophageal atresia with gastric pull up, complex patients requiring specialist feed advice)
Experience of parenteral nutrition and home parenteral nutrition is desirable.
· Outpatients: provision of dietetic cover to consultant-led outpatient clinics and those patients requiring long-term dietetic support on specialist diets. This may include blended clinics with teleconferencing.
· Provision of dietetic care to the Consultant-led allergy clinic which runs two mornings a week (shared responsibility with the band 6 dietitian with cross cover as able)
· Sound knowledge of feeds, formulas and special diet products and use of EDM 3000 for feed recipes.
· To have a strong foundation in nutritional support to include enteral feeding (including home enteral feeding in line with OUH policies)

- Dietetic degree
- Minimum 2 years paediatric experience
Desirable criteria
- Education/ CPD in gastro/allergy/paeds
