Job overview

The Department of Medical Education is recruiting a medical education administrator to oversee undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.  There are around 400 medical students and 900 doctors in training in the Trust who are supported by the Department.

Interviews will be held on Monday 22 July in person at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The quality management of clinical placements and teaching is crucial to ensuring an excellent learning experience for medical students, physician associate students and doctors in training.  The post holder will fulfil a key role facilitating and co-ordinating teaching, placements and other educational activities for the Trust, to ensure the effective delivery and administration of medical education and training is of the highest quality and standards, in line with their requirements and those of the GMC.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To organise, advise, plan, manage and support the following (but not exhaustive to) areas of the training programme where relevant to that programme:

  • Undergraduate placements
  • Undergraduate induction and onboarding
  • Undergraduate Year 4 mock exams
  • Associate Teaching Fellows programme
  • Internal Medical Training - teaching programme and administration

  • Proven administrative experience
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent information management skills
  • Able to work in a team and unsupervised
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Good microsoft office experience including Teams
  • Able to work under presssure

Desirable criteria
  • Proven experience of organising meetings and taking minutes
  • Experience of hybrid teaching
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a wide range of people including senior members in the Trust
