Job overview
The Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism(OCDEM) has an exciting opportunity for an senior nursing assistant to join the team. The role will consist of working alongside and supporting members of the Diabetes, Lipid, Endocrine and Podiatry Teams, helping to care for patients attending the services within OCDEM. The role will be interesting/educational and rewarding.
OCDEM is open Monday to Friday and core hours for this role are 8-4pm, Mon to Friday.
We are looking for candidates who have experience checking vital signs and phlebotomy skills.

Main responsibilities are to support the teams working within OCDEM
To support patients emotionally and clinically through their individual clinical pathway.

Education, training and qualif
Essential criteria
- To demonstrate literacy and numeracy
- Good command of spoken English assessed at interview
- Motivated to develop knowledge and skills and to undertake self-development
- Evidence of level 2 Apprenticeship or Diploma in Health related subject.
Clinical Practice
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of the NHS and/or health/child care and an interest in the speciality with knowledge of wider issues relating to health care.
- Clear understanding of professional accountability, delegation and professionalism related to the role of a band 3 worker
- Makes a positive contribution as a team player and demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
- Able to deliver a high standard of care for patients and always striving to improve on what you do through change and innovation
- Able to communicate effectively with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Is sensitive to the impact and implications of decisions and activities undertaken on other professionals
- Phlebotomy skills

- Essential IT skills in order to access required systems such as electronic patient records
