Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Watch how we set out to deliver compassionate excellence via the OUH YouTube channel.

Many of our recruitment programmes use Value Based Interviewing to identify those who have the skills we seek, who share our values and who are able to deliver compassionate excellence from the outset. We know that this makes a significant difference to your job satisfaction and above all the outcomes and experience of our patients and their families.  Oxford Centre for Genomic Medicine

We are seeking a highly motivated, team oriented and compassionate degree educated individual (or equivalent experience) to join our Whole Genome Sequencing patient consenting service, based at Oxford Centre for Genomic Medicine. This is a clinical role ideal for someone with an interest in developing a career in clinical genetics, who has demonstrated public facing experience in a healthcare, care, or volunteer setting.

NHS patients with rare genetic disease and certain types of cancer are now eligible for Whole Genome Sequencing, a new technology which aims to improve diagnosis and treatment stratification, and build an unparalleled resource for medical research.

The post holder will work alongside an existing team of Genomic Practitioners and Associates based in OxGEM, and will be responsible for compassionately consenting patients and their relatives for WGS as part of their recommended clinical care. The post holder will work together with others to ensure all clinical and research paperwork follows required standards, and that samples are collated in accordance with required time frames. Training will be provided.

Please note that this is not a genetic counselling post, and does not lead to professional registration as a Genetic Counsellor. Please see GCRAB, AGNC and NSHCS websites for details on a career in Genetic Counselling in the UK.
