Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 7 Cardiac Clinical Scientist at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. the successful applicant will work across all the Trust and community sites throughout Oxfordshire with the main base being the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. 

Main duties of the job

Undertake a range of diagnostic cardiac investigations at highly specialist cardiac physiologist level and provide expert, clinically accurate reports, adhering to local and national guidelines. Provide training to all relevant members of the MDT in the delivery of routine and complex cardiac investigations. To work closely with the consultant cardiologists, clinical cardiac physiology leads, advanced nurse practitioners and other medical colleagues in providing clinical leadership and input into service development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Perform high quality cardiac investigations, in accordance with departmental protocols and national guidelines on adults and adolescents (paediatric patients where appropriate) in both an in- and out-patient environment. To support the Head of Cardiac Physiology in all operational/managerial matters as required e.g. effective use of resources, management of cardiac physiology personnel. Provide training and support to all Cardiac Physiologists,  and the wider MDT, developing a structured training programme and measuring competence. To demonstrate a commitment to personal professional development and continue to develop specialist knowledge and experience, including sufficient CPD to maintain professional registration, while maintaining a record of professional development experiences

  • • STP/ Equivalent MSc • Relevant experience performing at Band 6 level • Demonstrates ability to support junior and senior members of staff • Evidence of ongoing professional development • Evidence of leadership development • SCST • HCPC registration

  • • ILS/ALS • GCP • Recognised teaching /assessing qualification • Mentoring qualification • BHRS/BSE accreditation
