Job overview

We have a great opportunity for a part qualified accountant to come and join the R&D Finance Team.

As part of this role you will provide the necessary support to the R&D finance team which ensures that there are systems maintained or where appropriate modified to deliver timely, accurate and comprehensive financial data and information against which performance can be monitored, variances analysed, and appropriate management action advised to ensure that the directorates deliver against budget plans.

Main duties of the job

Within this role you will work together with the rest of our small dedicated team to manage the budgets for the Research & Development team this includes an annual rebasing exercise and maintenance of the yearly budgets. You will create strong relationships with the stakeholders in your directorate and ensure that funding received is used within the funding guidelines. You will be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the reporting required by the directorate. You will be able to analyse and explain findings around the trend variances and forecasts and be able to provide guidance to Managers. The role does require you to have an understanding of financial analysis and costing of bids for new funding applications.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in a finance role
  • Working knowledge of accounting concepts, controls, and methodologies
  • Understanding of Technical Accounting, Governance & Internal Controls , Trust Financial Regime
  • Analyse complex information
Desirable criteria
  • Involvement in enhancements to process and systems.
  • Successful experience in multi-agency and multi professional working
