We are delighted to be advertising this critical and highly valued role for the trust. As Head of Spirituality and Pastoral Care you will lead the provision of Spiritual and Pastoral Care across the Trust and lead and manage the Oxford Centre for Spirituality and Wellbeing (OxCSWell).
Following from retirement of the previous postholder we are keen to find someone who can take on the challenge of this important position.

The successful applicant will ensure that a high quality Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care service is provided to patients across the trusts services and ensure that this service is inclusive. They will manage, supervise, and support chaplaincy staff and provide strategic leadership and management to the OxCSWell service and team. They will ensure that appropriate links are made and maintained with representatives of local faith communities as well as making and maintaining links and networks at regional and national level.
You will report to the Director of Psychological Professions with ultimate accountability to the Chief Nurse as well as feeding into other trust governance structures and informing the development of staff wellbeing and psychological support structures.

The key purpose of this post is summarised below:
- To lead, manage and develop the provision of spiritual, religious and pastoral care to all patients, staff and carers across the Trust.
- To lead and support the Spiritual and Pastoral Care Team.
- To be responsible for the organisation, development, implantation and evaluation of a strategy for the Trust’s spiritual and pastoral care service and for pathways to ensure optimal spiritual care in all Trust services.
- To be a source of expert advice and training to all levels of Trust staff, from the Trust board to staff providing front-line care, on all issues pertaining to spirituality and chaplaincy in relation to patient care and the support of carers and staff.
- To lead research and development activity in the field of spirituality and mental health and to oversee the work of OxCSWell (the Oxford Centre for Spirituality and Wellbeing).
- To promote the inclusion of all service users and carers.

- Knowledge of current national and international spiritual care assessment tools and delivery paradigms
- Developed knowledge of service models in mental health settings

- Providing direction through supervision, consultancy, teaching and training to a range of health and social care professionals both locally and nationally
Qualifications

- Degree level and/or professional qualification in theology, ministry, social work, community work or related fields.
- Significant experience working at a senior level in health or social care chaplaincy.
- Experience of working at expert level within a mental health setting

- An expert working knowledge of beliefs and philosophies across major faith and belief traditions represented in the UK
