In this role, you will have the opportunity to join the  Neurodevelopmental Conditions (NDC) Service within Oxfordshire's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). 

The function of the Neurodevelopmental Conditions (NDC) pathway is to ensure that presentation of the emotional and mental health needs of children and young people with suspected or identified neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and ADHD are appropriately met, with the aim of increasing ability to manage these long term conditions, and reducing the likelihood of long-term mental health problems. The service is delivered by a multi-disciplinary team who can deliver a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

We have a reputation for being creative, innovative, forward thinking, dynamic and research led. As a service we work closely with Oxford University to lead on research opportunities. With the support of NHS England the NDC service are currently developing a new diagnostic ASD Adolescent assessment tool. The project will continue for another year to complete phase 2, which will include data analysis of the tool and working towards publication.

In this role, you'll manage and lead on delivering the care  for an agreed case load of patients, support with providing interventions based on core professional skills, and join the multi-disciplinary assessment clinic model of the NDC.

You'll also be providing duty cover for the team as a point of contact for urgent issues for the young people and their families, and offer follow up to the young people who require ongoing treatment and support.

The Oxford NDC CAMHS Service covers a diverse catchment area, that is both rural and urban. Our main office sits on the Slade site in Oxford, which is conveniently situated 1 mile from the A34 and 5 miles from the M40.

  • To support the Clinical Lead with the co-ordination and delivery of the assessment and treatment service for children and young people, involving family members and others involved in the young person's care and take an active role in formulation. 
  • To undertake and manage a specific caseload of young people, completing all required documentation including risk assessment and care plans. Be responsible for implementing and co-ordinating a range of interventions for Children, young people and families.
  • Managing and prioritising clinical time and case load effectively. Compile written reports as required, and to generate and maintain accurate treatment records on paper and electronically in each patient’s file which are stored securely. 
  • To work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team within CAMHS Neuropsychiatry, CAMHS NDC Team and the wider CAMHS service.
  •  To participate in regular supervision/case management and the locally agreed appraisal process. -Commitment to lifelong learning through ongoing professional and career development.

Qualifications

  • RMN or RN. Occupational Therapist with HCPC Registration or Social Worker with HCPC registration

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree/diploma. CAMHS experience desirable. Mental Health Qualification desirable
